Carbonate process

The Carbonate Process efficiently manages the development of an idea or core technology through to commercial reality using a proven process. This is consistently applied to all projects and with all our partners to ensure expectations are clearly understood by all parties. After an initial screening to ensure that our basic criteria are met, projects progress through the following stages:

Spark Idea Selection and Due Diligence:
The team reviews the idea or technology in light of current market conditions, user need, technical feasibility, uniqueness and protectability, scope and strategic fit with Carbonate's experience and capabilities.

Probe Detailed Investigation:
Product feasibility is determined in terms of performance and cost. Qualitative and quantitative research defines the size of the opportunity and the routes to market. A business case is constructed and the decision to commence a development project and how to fund it is made.

Explore Product Definition Specification (PDS):
A programme plan is produced and a programme manager assigned. The plan will include the product roadmap, marketing plan, potential partner involvement, budget and return on investment. Partners may include financial, manufacturing, distribution and/or brandholders.

Prototype Generic Working Prototype:
Fully working prototypes are built and supported by performance specifications, Bill Of Materials and supplier list. Controlled user feedback research and testing is conducted. Concurrently, licenses are secured with appropriate partners.

Develop Brand-Specific Product Development:
Development of product in specific embodiment of brand may be managed by Carbonate or the brand partner. The output of this stage is typically a full product specification for manufacture, contract supplier audit and marketing plan.

Launch Production Start-Up:
Product quality is audited during the ramp-up to production. Field trials, trial sell and marketing and communications activity take the product through to full launch and the opportunity to collect royalties from product sales.
